2026 Midterms

Immigration
We need to remember what it means to be an American.
America is a "melting pot." We were all taught that in school. The Statue of Liberty is still engraved with an invitation that is heard across the planet and people respond because they believe us; they believe in the promise that is the United States of America.
How is it then, that when the poor, the tired and the homeless show up at our doorstep with their families, our response is to arrest them, separate them from each other and lock them in shelters and prisons? This is not only inhumane, but also un-American. Fear and racism are at the root of this type of national policy and, as your Representative, I will not stand for it.
It is clear, in my opinion, that the current federal border policies do not do enough to fully regulate the flow of immigrants into the country and a lot of work needs to be done, in cooperation with the border states. It is also an issue that the path to legal status and citizenship can be tedious, if not impossible to navigate for many who are seeking it. But you'll notice that there aren't many representatives really doing anything significant to change anything.
That's because it's a "political pawn" issue that has more value to the Establishment Politicians as an unsolved "crisis" than as a fixed problem.

I intend to go to Congress and work to change the stalemate status quo. It can be done. There are signs appearing now that real cooperation is possible There are brave legislators on both sides of the aisle, proposing real legislation in a bipartisan way for the benefit of the greater population. This needs to become commonplace again and I will work every day to help make that a reality.
